I can't believe Graduation is over! You and your students should be so proud...the ceremony and reception was awesome!

Here are some events happening until the last day of school:

~May 23rd I will not be in school due to my daughter's graduation. My students will be having their "Charlotte's Web" party.

~May 24th is the Kindergarten Picnic - Please bring a sack lunch, so we can eat outside in the pavillion and play games...weather permitting. We will remain inside and "do" the same thing if it is raining.

~May 25th is Field Day & Last Day of School! Am students will arrive at 8:15 am. Field Day begins at 9 am and ends at 11 am. This is a half-day of school, so students will be dismissed at 11 am. Parents may stay and follow us to our events. PM students may attend Field Day if they want, but pick up is at 11 am.

Parents please check the lost and found box near the gym "Hawk" wall and cafeteria. Items are donated if not claimed.

A Child's View of Mother's Day

When I am big, and old, and grown,

I will have children of my own.

I'll have a great big rocking chair,

And rock them while I'm sitting there.

I'll teach them colors, numbers, too,

And teach them how to tie a shoe.

When they are sick, I'll make them better.

When it is cold, they'll wear a sweater.

Our Media Specialist, Ms. Aramburo is organizing a community effort to help The Ronald McDonald House Charity. She is having a contest to see who can donate the most can tabs in their homeroom classes. The contest is for Kindergarten through 8^th grade. The prize for the most donated tabs will receive a Free dress day and Pizza Party for that class. She will also reward the student who donates the most tabs. The student does not have to be in the class who wins the contest. The contest starts Monday, May 2^nd and ends Friday, May 13^th. She will organize a day with the winning class’ homeroom teacher for the Pizza Party.

Below is some information on this charity, and how it helps children and their families with illnesses.

Pop Tabs For Charity

The tab of a standard soda can is made of high quality, high-grade aluminum. By itself, it doesn’t mean much, but when you pull together, pop-tabs add up and become a valuable donation to your local Ronald McDonald House.

How do I get involved?

Start collecting! Make sure you put your tabs in something that you can write your name on and the number of how many tabs you have collected. Give your tabs to your teacher, or to Ms. Aramburo in the library.

Who Are You Helping?

Ronald McDonald House Charities® provides a "home away from home", a refuge, for families who are trying to cope with the physical, emotional and financial burdens of having a seriously ill child. Parents do not have to sleep in hospital waiting rooms or bear the expense and loneliness of motel lodging. At the House they have an extended family - other house guests - who are experiencing some of the same fears and concerns and who are able to offer emotional support and a sympathetic ear. Our goal is to provide comfort, hope, and relief so that families can focus the entirety of their energies on getting their children well.

This Friday, May 6th, the Kindergarten Team is hosting a "Free Dress for a $1 Day" to help raise funds for Kindergarten Graduation. Please have your child bring in $1 if they want to participate. I will be collecting the money all week. These funds will be used for decorations and food for the ceremony and reception. Look for posters around the school. The whole school will be participating. Parent Informational Meeting

Tuesday, April 12, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

We have a special evening planned for parents to tour our school and hear about all of the many reasons to send students to Bromley East! We will begin the evening with a meeting to provide information about academic and extra-curricular programs offered at our school. This will be followed by a tour of the school, where classrooms will be open for viewing and meeting teachers. Also during the evening will be a meeting for parents of upcoming 5th graders – to discuss the transition to middle school. We hope you will consider attending and bringing friends who are interested in sending their children to our school.

A Child of Spring

I know a little maiden,

She is very fair and sweet,

And daffodillies bright.

She loves dear Mother Nature,

And wanders by her side;

She beckons to the birdlings

That flock from far and wide.

She wakes the baby brooklets,

Soft breezes hear her call;

She tells the little children

The sweetest tales of all.

Her brow is sometimes clouded,

And she sighs with gentle grace,

Till the sunbeams, daring lovers,

Kiss the teardrops from her face.

Well we know this dainty maiden,

For April is her name;

And we welcome her with gladness,

As the springtime comes again.

School resumes this Monday. I hope everyone had an awesome Spring Break with fun and relaxation.

Due to not receiving 18/20 reams of paper respectively for the am/pm classes, there will not be a "Dress of Choice" day. Thank you to all parents and students who donated. The class appreciates it, and so do I.

Please remember a snack for your child. We are having quite a few kiddos forgetting their snack. If you do not want your child to have a snack, that's fine.

In your Friday folders, you received a "Guess Who" worksheet. This is for your child to bring on their share day.

Monday, March 21st - Friday, March 25th:

This is the last week until Spring Break. Friday will be a "Dress of Choice" day. School resumes Monday, April 4th.

We have only received four (4) reams of paper from two (2) classes. Please think about donating to our classroom for rising paper costs, as well as your child's classroom contest.

Give Paper – Get Dress of Choice Day – To help defer our rising paper costs, we are asking parents to donate one ream of paper per child to their student’s homeroom teacher. Any homeroom that reaches 100% participation will receive a free Dress of Choice day on Monday, April 4 (the day we return from Spring Break.) 100% participation means one ream of paper has been donated for each student in the homeroom. Thank you in advance with your help with this request.

I have posted three more websites for your child to use at home and school. I will introduce them to the math and physics websites this week.

Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Friday, May 20th at 2 pm in the Bromley East Gym. A reception will immediately follow the graduation. Our HRH's will be contacting parents for donations as needed for the reception. There will be more details to follow.

One of our AM students brought a visitor to class. His goat "Morning-Joy" is a twin born three weeks ago. Thank you Titus for sharing her.

Wearin' O' the Jeans/Greens --- To help raise money for the 8th grade graduation, students and staff may pay $1.00 to wear either jeans or out of uniform greens on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. Only students/staff who have paid the $1.00 will be allowed to be out of uniform on that day.

"Share-Time" will resume in April. A letter with new ideas and suggestions will be sent home before spring break.

Monday, February 14th is Class Picture Day for K-5th grades. AM class is at 8:45; and PM class is 12:45. Students will be taking photos in caps and gowns, too. Thank you to parents who are donating their time in helping with picture taking.

All students must be in their uniforms for the class and individual pictures. Please send students in their best dress code attire that aligns with our policy. Valentine Parties will begin at 10:30 and 2:00...on the 14th. Your child did make a Valentine Bag on Friday if they were in class. Please have your child bring their valentines with just their name signed. Thank you in advance to all parents who are donating crafts, food and time.

Conferences begin Tuesday, February 15 and end Thursday, February 17th. Sign-up sheets are outside the classroom starting at 4pm and ending at 7:45pm. Conferences will be 15 minutes. If these days and times do not work for you, please let me know by email or a note and we can work something out for another time, day or week.

There will be a Valentine’s Party with Valentine Exchange on Monday, February 14th. The kiddos will be making their own valentine bags at school this week. If you want your child to participate, please send in their valentines with their names only signed on each, Monday, February 14th. They will be placing their valentines in each bag.

Don't forget to sign-up for conferences Tuesday, February 15th - Thursday, February 17th. Conferences are from 4-8pm. There is no school Friday, February 18th and Monday, February 21st. Enjoy President's Weekend!

Please remember to dress your child in their school's uniform for Picture Day: Tuesday, February 1st. They will be in a class photo, single photo and graduation cap/gown photo. Our class photos will begin at 8:45 am and 12:45 pm, so if you can stay for 15 minutes and help with our kiddos that would be great.

I hope you read in your Friday Folders about the upcoming Valentine's Day Parties. Please contact your HRH if you can help in any way. I also wanted to add that on Monday, February 14th, please have your child bring their valentines signed by them only. They will be passing them out and placing in their classmates bags by themselves. We will be making their valentine's bags Thursday the 10th and Friday the 11th. Please remember the PM student's peanut and tree nut allergies. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Hope all had a wonderful time with my sub "Miss Fulbright". I hope all of you could participate in the "100th Day of School" fun. Thank you to the First Grade for cheering us on at the 100th day! It's hard to believe there are 78 days left of school. Remember this Friday, January 28th will be a "Dress of Choice" day. Just an update on the homework packet:

I will be giving homework the beginning of the month in a packet form. You can have your child complete it at their leisure. Just return it by the end of the month. I know the initial letter said to return it each week, and it would be returned on Monday to begin the next week's assignments. I did look at each student's homework when it was returned last week, but returned their folders to them. Sorry for the confusion.

We will also be celebrating Valentine's Day, Monday, February 14th in the AM and PM classes. I will be working with your HRH's with details. Look for an informational sheet to go home in the Friday folders soon.

Just a reminder that in the PM class we are having an issue with students bringing peanut and tree nut snacks. We do have two students with those allergies. I have had those students bringing those foods remove them immediately to their backpacks. Please read the labels-you would be surprised what foods have peanuts and/or tree nuts. Some products do not have any of those ingredients, but are made on the same manufacturers line. Thank you for your cooperation.

• Please do not forget warm coats, mittens and hats for your child. We try to go out for recess every day.
• Homework folders will go home on Mondays and should be returned by Friday.
• Remember to read all the information sent home in your child’s Friday folders. Your youngest child attending Bromley will be bringing home this information, so that you will not receive double or triple information.

I am looking forward to an awesome, productive rest of the year with your children. We had a great first half of the year. It has been fun seeing them grow emotionally, socially, as well as academically. Thanks for sharing them with me.

Homework Update and Reminders

After speaking with many parents, I found that they want more challenging or more homework sent home. I also found that parents like the whole week to complete the homework due to family and outside school events.

Homework will still be sent home on Mondays, but include language arts, writing, math, social studies and/or science work. Homework will be due on Fridays.

Just a reminder that your child should be writing his/her own name on their work. This is an important task they need to learn now. I have many parents writing their child's names or there are no names on homework. Please remind your child to write their names.

Thank you so much to all parents who brought their children to school dressed in their favorite sports shirt and hat. We had all kindergartners in attendance, but one. That's awesome!

The kids enjoyed movies, popcorn, sweets and juice. I want to thank those moms who decided to stay and help out with the festivities. Thank you to those parents who donated all the goodies...we couldn't have had our special day without you!

Dear Families,

This Friday, October 1st is "Sports Day" for the school (a "Free Dress Day"). However, the Kindergarten team would like our students to wear their favorite hat or cap. It can be related to sports, but does not have to be. If all students are present for our October 1st Count, then we can wear our hats all day.

Also, to make this day extra special we are going to show a movie (am and pm classes) with popcorn, donut holes, and juice boxes. If you can donate any of these goodies or would like to donate something else, it would be surely appreciated. Maybe the Bromley East school mascot will stop in our classroom and say hello!

Picture Day!

Students are allowed free dress for their pictures. But, they

Effective Monday, September 20th kindergartners will be dismissed at 3:20 due to alleviating congestion at the exit area. Teachers will remain outside until 3:45 for any parents that cannot pick up at the 3:20 time. This dismissal time gives those parents a chance to pick up their kindergartner first and then pick up any older students. Dismissal time remains the same for grades 1st thru 8th. Thank you for your cooperation.

Early pick-up time and tardy slips: If you must pick-up your child early from school, please do so before 11:00am and 3:00pm. We have experienced some early dismissals that are causing classroom disruptions. If we are at recess, there is no problem picking up your child early due to they would have all their belongings with them. We also are having more tardies than usual in the morning and afternoon classes. This also disrupts the learning time. Kindergartners enjoy announcing themselves when they enter the classroom. This can be disruptive when the other students are completing their work. If a student receives three (3) tardy slips in one month, they will lose their "Dress of Choice Day" for that month. Of course, I understand that there are times that early dismissal and being tardy are unpreventable. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Parents for remembering the nutritious snacks you've been sending each day. The kiddos have been enjoying them. Don't forget if your child has a birthday that a special treat can be sent in on or around their day. You may still send in a snack on that day if you desire, but not necessary if we celebrate with a birthday treat. Some kiddos may not like the birthday treat, so they will still have their daily snack.
